In March 1915, Mosaburo Makita, founded MAKITA ELECTRIC WORKS in the city of Nagoya, a shop specialized in the sale and repair of electric motors and transformers.
Over the years the initial company undergoes several transformations.
In the 1940s, the facilities changed location and a new plant was established in Sumiyoshi-Cho, in the city of Anjo.
In the 1950s, more specifically from January 1958, electric brushes began to be marketed, the first in Japan.
From there, over the years, Makita has grown into one of the world's largest manufacturers of power tools, with 11 manufacturing plants located around the world and a large number of subsidiaries.
